The location is fantabulous. Many 24/7 stores, supermarkets are nearby. Close to subway stations and YuYuan Garden. The staff speaks adept English. In that location is filtered hot h2o in the public kitchen and they take a thermo kettle in the rooms with mugs that you lot can use. It is a great thought. Yous can also find slippers, toilet newspaper and towels in the room. You can prepare the temperature in the room which is too peachy. Their luggage room is free for a day. Excellent location, near a major Metro Station and walking distance from many of Shanghai sights and landmarks. Beds are comfortable and there are enough bathrooms and showers. Eatery/Bar is very nice and good!. I went at that place twice. Nice staff, very clean rooms, showers and restrooms. Shower was broken, there was very bad odor, wifi very bad. The entrance is in a disgusting little street. But only walk fast and don't use your nose. No elevator. No outside window in room. Floor above rooms was sometimes noisy at night. The bed linen was dirty and smelly. no free city map, small-scale window to the corridor, hard to communicate with the chinese staff in the bar. Wifi. There is something but below (marketplace?) the hostel which makes a lot of noise from iv.00 until 7.30 in the morning time. We couldn't sleep between those hours the two nights we stayed in the hostel. Tip for hostel: improve windows (two layers of glass and properly closable) on street side to subtract the noise. The problem might be smaller if your room isn't located in the street side. the smell. The room was sandwiched past corridors so there was no natural light in the room. TV didn't piece of work. The corridors to the rooms are sectioned off from the rest of the hostel by glass doors you need a keycard for, none of the keycards worked autonomously from the staff one. YHA discount is only ten yuan per night as opposed to the usual ten%. Bad smell on the street and on stairs. Poor air conditioning in the room which made information technology stuffy at nighttime. All the rooms were clustered together, noise from neighboring dorms could be heard very easily. Unable/willing to help with travel booking or general information. the washing service was ok, simply the dryer didn't work, and staff was unwilling to have it fixed or notice alternatives. Room was not clean and it was smelly. The list is long : TV broken, sometimes no hot water when showering, no window in our room, rather noisy people (just OK for youth hostel) ... But the worst is that the laundry which is located merely above the rooms was active during night ! We were awaken at iv by the repetitive and rather intense sound of the washing machine and dryers.
